Another 'Expert', only I'm not

New Beginnings

Better late than never, right?

Beginning my own blog has been on my mind for some time, but due a set of unfortunate personal circumstances, it had to be delayed for a while. Well it's a new year, and there's no time like the present.

What will this blog be about? Well, I'm glad you asked (I asked for you, in case you didn't). My professional focus is nonprofit, integrated multi-channel marketing and communications, so I guess it'll be about that stuff. I'm currently working as a social media specialist for a nonprofit, so there'll be a social media focus, at least for now. And I will probably occasionally drift into other topics, such as politics, policy, and doughnuts. I love doughnuts. And coffee. And lots of other things that are bad for me. I also love my wife and daughter, but they're GOOD for me. And I'm easily distracted, as you just witnessed.

I hope to post about once a week, but we'll see. If the road to hell is paved with good intentions, I am a leading contractor in paving stones.

Like any blogger, I hope to gain some followers, and that they comment and share, even if it's just to ridicule me.

After all, I am NOT an expert.

But I do have experience, and I use my brain to critically think (sometimes, anyway), and I think I might have something of value to say, although that's just my opinion. Most importantly, I hope to create and be part of some dialog once in a while that leaves the participants feeling that they got something out of it.

Here's to 2011, and new beginnings.

Congrats on launching your blog, Pat! The best word of advice I received when starting my blog was to just do it and don't over think it. Your mission and focus will become apparent the more you write and it will shift and change over time (that's the beauty of the digital world!). Excited to see what you produce here. Cheers!

Hi Pat, Interesting theme, social media and non profit. At which organization do you work, if I may ask. Best regards from Holland, Martijn
