HELP! I'm drowning in social media

So last week I joined the 'exclusive' club of Google+ users. While I was glad to get an invite, and I felt just a little bit cool because I was on, it brought to sharp relief an increasing problem for me.

I'm drowning in social media.

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE social media. I do it for a living, I do it for fun, and to some extent I even do it to annoy my wife ("Can you PLEASE put your phone down for a while???"). OK, just kidding on the last one.

But I got to thinking about how it's taking over my life.

Empire Avenue - waste of time?

If you have a blog, and have tried to connect it to yourEmpire Avenueprofile, then you know exactly what that line above is all about. But adding it gave me an opportunity to write a post about this fairly new social site. More specifically, I'm wondering how people would answer the question:

"What is the purpose of Empire Avenue?"

I mean, it's somewhat addicting because of the competitive element. And yes, it is a new way to build connections to people around common interests or communities.
